Admission Steps

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Crowley's Ridge College offers financial assistance to qualifying students through Federal, State, private, and institutionally-funded programs. The office of Student Financial Services will make every effort to assist each student in meeting the cost of education through grants, scholarships, employment, and loans.

CRC awards financial assistance on the basis of verified financial need or merit and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, disability, or prior military service. CRC utilizes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for determining if a student has a financial need that can be met from federal, state, or institutional funds. These forms are available from high schools or CRC Admissions and Financial Assistance offices. Students also may fill out the FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. All students seeking financial assistance must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

It is very important that all students applying for financial assistance complete and submit financial assistance forms as early as possible.
Applications received late may not receive as much assistance as earlier applications due to depleted resources. Completed applications will be reviewed and an award letter will be sent to students determined to have a need for funds for educational purposes.
To be eligible for Federal and State funded programs, the student must satisfy each of the following seven criteria:

SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS POLICY

To continue to receive financial aid, a student must meet or exceed the academic performance as indicated below:

Hours Attempted: 28 40 52 64
Minimum GPA: 1.25 1.60 1.80 2.00

Each student receiving financial assistance must, in addition to meeting the above grade point average scale, successfully complete a minimum of 67 percent of all hours attempted. Therefore, each student who is attempting 16 hours each semester has a maximum of 6 semesters to complete graduation requirements. Those enrolled for fewer than 16 hours are on the same percentage ratio but will have a longer time period to complete graduation requirements. For example, a student enrolled for 12 hours each semester must complete 67 percent of all hours attempted, but he/she would have 8 semesters to complete graduation requirements.

If a student fails to maintain satisfactory academic progress, he/she will be placed on academic probation for the following semester. During the semester of academic probation students will continue to be eligible for financial aid. After one semester of academic probation students will lose their eligibility for financial aid. However, financial aid eligibility will be reinstated when the student is no longer on academic probation.

Any exception to the previously noted policies regarding satisfactory academic progress and financial aid can be made only by the scholarship/financial assistance committee. Exceptions due to unusual circumstances will be considered, and students should contact the director of financial services for information about how to file for an exception.
