ORIENTATION

AUGUST 3-5, 2008

Being a a new student to CRC is an exciting time in one's life. To get a good foot hold and direction in being a student at CRC one needs a little orientation.

Fun in Ropes Course at Freshman Orientation      IN AUGUST, CRC will be alive with activity as students welcome each other to campus and begin the fall semester. We are excited that you have chosen to attend CRC and will be part of the CRC family.

AN ACTIVITY that can help get you off to a good start is Freshmen Orientation August 3-8. These two days are very important and will help you make the transition to college life much easier. You will get acquainted with new friends, classes, your advisor, and the campus. You'll learn trust and teamwork at a ropes course on Monday after you take the ASSET placement test that morning. All first time entering freshmen must take the ASSET test unless you scored 19 on the English and Reading section of the ACT exam and a 21 on the math section. For example, if you scored a 17 on Reading, 20 on English and 19 on math, you would be required to take the reading and math sections and would not have to take the English section. You will be placed in English and math classes based on your ASSET and ACT scores. YOU MAY BRING A CALCULATOR TO USE FOR THE MATH SECTION.

THE DORMS WILL be open both Sunday and Monday nights. The dorm parents will be available to give you a room assignment either before 5:30 or when they return from Sunday evening services around 7:30 p.m. All students at orientation will stay in Wilson dorm. The dorm rooms are clean but bare, so you'll need to bring bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows, or a sleeping bag), towels and toiletries (including soap).

THERE'S NO CHARGE, but you might want to bring spending money for snacks at the Bowling Center Monday evening. Meals will be provided Monday morning through Tuesday noon.

DRESS IS CASUAL for these two days - you may want to wear shorts (appropriate length according to the handbook is no shorter than 3 inches above the knee) and t-shirts for the ropes course. Keep in mind that you will be doing physical outdoor activities and also that we live in the midst of mosquito land! So, bring bug repellant.

THERE IS ONE thing you definitely need - a good attitude. This really is the first day of the rest of your life, and we hope that you are as committed to your college career as we are. Please call us at (870)236-6901 or (800)264-1096 or return the enclosed registration form if you plan to attend.

Freshman Orienation will be the day you make friends who will last a lifetime     THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN, and we can't wait to welcome you to campus.

After advising and pre-registration, you are free to leave or continue visiting with admissions and financial aid.
